InfraReachServer
The backend of every InfraReach management network

An industrial-strength server built around IP Power Technologies's secure communication technology, the InfraReachServer represents the core of the InfraReach management network.

The InfraReachServer is the multi functional server software that accomplishes all the back-end tasks of the InfraReach platform. Being both a database server as well as a security and realtime communication server, it connects all managed devices to the management network via their InfraNodes, authenticates all clients and controllers, manages all activity. Technically its a complex machine including a WEB server, an encrypting database server, a connectivity server, a security server and a general services processing server.

Web-based interface

Thanks to InfraReachServer's web-based interface, all management tasks are available via browser access. This way, administration and monitoring functionalities are available anywhere you are.

Once connected to the server and logged in, the user can easily perform the tasks he is allowed to: administrators can create, edit and destroy users and groups, change all InfraNodes' settings, enable and disable management application such as secure access, remote control and monitoring and assign or unassign them to user groups. Thanks to a very modern and effective design all administration tasks are just a matter of a few clicks.

Ordinary users (technicians) logging into the InfraReachServer reach the management interface where all devices and application are clearly represented both on a grid and on a map view. For each device the user can view its state and alarms, see if the associated applications are online and available or who's currently using them, receive detailed information about the devices faults and the measures taken to solve them.

All views are fully customizable, allowing the user to upload new maps that better represent his network and management environment.

PRIVATE, PUBLIC or mixed?

Thanks to a high degree of flexibility, the InfraReachServer offers a wealth of installation possibilities.

SOHO and SMB users will probably access a public server owned by an ASPs selling the management service via the Internet. This is the simplest and cheapest option since it doesn't require the user to own an InfraReachServer and best fits the needs of small to medium sized companies.

Companies that need to manage large networks or want to sell the management services to third parties can configure their InfraReachServers as totally private, thus allowing only-Intranet access to the management services, or public, giving Internet-wide availability to the management network.

Between these two options there are a number of mixed-access possibilities, from the single server with full-functional Intranet and monitoring-only Internet access to dual server installations with separated public and private servers. And even to advanced dual-cluster solutions where a cluster of two redundant servers (see below) is available with monitoring-only functionalities via the Internet and another cluster is fully functional and Intranet-restricted.

Secure, Reliable and Available

Based on IPPower's Secure Connectivity Services and battle-tested industry standards like java, InfraReachServer offers the highest grade of reliability and security.

Where a simple, single-server installation doesn't meet the client's requirements, InfraReachServer comes with InfraReach Enteprise Edition: a multi-server high-availability option that supports automatic failover inside the InfraReachServer cluster. Should the primary server experience a hardware failure, a secondary InfraReachServer take its place without any loss of service availability. This feature, along with the InfraGate/InfraNode multiple connection capability, guarantees that the management service is always available.

Architecture

The InfraReachServer includes all the back-end technologies that manage security and communication activities inside the remote management network.

Technically speaking, the InfraReachServer is a multi-server including:

Security Server
Implementing the IP Power Technologies Security Standard, the Security Server manages all authentication inside the network, form web users access to InfraNode and InfraClient key exchange.

Webserver
The webserver all InfraReach users access for all administrative, monitoring and connectivity tasks relies on industry-strength standards like Java 1.4 and Apache 2.x

Communication server
Dispatching all connection requests coming from InfraClients and InfraNodes, the communication server allows remote components to create the encrypted links that are the foundation of the IPPower Secure Communication Services.

Data elaboration
All data collected by the InfraNodes and sent to the InfraReachServer need complex elaboration before being stored.

Data storage
A high performance dataserver takes care of storing all data regarding users, networks, controllers, devices and data collected from them. State of the art technology allows very high performance on modern servers.

General Services
A general services layer creates the glue that makes all these components tightly integrated and interoperative.

Enterprise clustering option

To meet the availability demands of large enterprises, the InfraReachServer is available in an enterprise version including clustering and replica technologies.

A secondary server can take the place of the primary one to avoid service interruptions in case of hardware or network failure.

The replica option also guarantees the integrity of all server data by allowing cluster nodes to be placed at different locations relying on independent physical and network infrastructures.
